Mr. Francis B. Drake, the Assistant Surveyor
informs me that he is a candidate for the appointment of Engin- -efr and Surveyor to your Council, and it is with every confi-
-dence that I strongly recommend him to your notice as a gontle-
-man of very considerably ability and experience in his profes-
-sion.
Mr. Drake has been engaged in this office
six years, during which time he has been engaged upon the
inception and supervision of many important works of the best
class for Street Widening, Private Street and Drainage Works,
Cemetery Extension, Isolation Hospital, Workmen's Dwellings and
Underground Conveniences, dc.
He is a capable Surveyor, accustomed to the
preparation of plans, Surveys, Specifications, Estimates and
Reports for all classes of Buildings and Engineering work and
is fully competant to take the entire charge and supervision of
same during construction.
He has had a large and valuable experience
of the "Private Street Works Act, 1892" and is thoroughly
efficient in the preparation of Bills of Quantities for Architos-
-tural and Engineering Work, having undertaken this additional
work since his appointment at Richmond.
•
I have always found. Drake to be a steady, reliable, energetic and courteous effécer, punctual and regular in the performance of his duties and one who will, I am sure,
if elected carry out the duties of the office with credit and
distinction and I wish him every success, though I should be
sorry to lose his services.
I am, gentlemen, #c., (sd.) J. H. Brierley,
Borough Eng., Surveyor.
